Here at Wagner we want to congratule everyone celebrating this holiday not only because hard work must have a recognition but also for the fact that all honest work is a contribution for a better economy, a better nation and a better way of life.
Labor Day is a day set aside to pay tribute to working men and women; it honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws and well-being of the country.
It has been celebrated as a national holiday in the United States and Canada since 1894. This holiday is also celebrated in Puerto Rico, the Canal Zone, and the Virgin Islands on the first Monday in September.
Celebration time!
So, just like every year, the weekend felt like little vacation and for you it surely meant grilling out. When you are back to work tomorrow, you’ll have plenty of fun stories to share with your colleagues. Perhaps you are planning on attending the New York City Labor Day Parade, which will take place on September 8. Or maybe you have already planned a quick travel or visiting an amusement park with your kids. You’ll find many ways to celebrate the unofficial end of summer!
In the meantime, this week should feel like a long celebration and you should still visit places, have dinner with friends and, of course, wear whatever joyful outfit you want. Remember the old commandment that thou shall not wear white after Labor Day? This is an outdated fashion rule that’s meant to be broken. Wear something that looks great on you, whether it's white or any other color. Wear something that looks great on you, whether it's white or any other color.

The First Labor Day
The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union.
In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.
In the USA, governmental recognition first came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. The first state bill was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.
