Titanium is a program developed by Appcelerator platform and it is used to create native mobile apps that uses only one source code (JavaScript), which adapts to the main mobile operating systems.
Let’s review some of the terminologies that we will see in this article.
● Native Mobile Apps: It means that the native programming language of the device is used for its development, e.g. (Objective C or Swift for iOS, Java for Android). This model is totally dependent on the platform and the Apps are not portable, you have to develop one per platform.

● SDK: A software development kit (SDK or DevKit) is typically a set of software tool development that allows the creation of applications for a particular software package, software framework, hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system or similar development platforms.

What is Appcelerator Titanium?
Titanium SDK is an open-source framework that allows the creation of native mobile apps on platforms including iOS, Android and Windows UWP from a single JavaScript codebase, developed by Appcelerator.
In February 2013, Business Insider estimated that 10% of all smartphones worldwide ran Titanium-built apps.
The most important features of this program are in its functionalities or, in other words, what it allows to do and how to do it:
1. It uses the JavaScript programming language, which is typical of web pages, and then translates to the native system of each application.

2. The interface or programming environment is based on Eclipse (Aptana Studio) and is very easy, visual and intuitive, so it is not necessary to have programming knowledge.

3. They have an unlimited extensibility of the Titanium framework itself, which allows new modules with more possibilities and resources to be added constantly.

In January 2016, Axway, a global software company with more than 11,000 public and private sector clients in 100 countries, acquired Appcelerator. Since then, Indie plan (subscriptions) have been re-released, including native API access with Hyperloop.

Is it convenient to use Appcelerator Titanium?
As with everything that we use, there comes advantages and disadvantages, but it is important to understand that these should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. This is because the size and complexity of the project predicts the number of bugs and limitations one could encounter when choosing to develop on this platform.
Titanium is however, an excellent tool for rapid prototyping to present a mock-up, within a few hours, then evaluate consumer interests or conduct usability tests, one disadvantage will be the learning curve if you do not have experience with Mobile development, JavaScript and Web Services.
