HAPPY TRANSLATION DAY FROM WAGNER
Pin It

It’s September 30 and we are celebrating the International Translation Day, a day in which we honor the work of translators building bridges and helping communication across the world.
About the Day
The International Federation of Translators (FIT) established the holiday in 1953. The day was chosen to coincide with the feast of St. Jerome (342-420 AD), the patron saint of translators and interpreters worldwide. In fact, he was the first to translate the Bible from Greek into Latin, making it available to a larger audience.
Last year, the United Nations General Assembly officially adopted the holiday, recognizing the great role of translators in “bringing nations together, facilitating dialogue, understanding and cooperation, contributing to development and strengthening world peace and security.”
Celebrating the expansion of the industry
Historically, the majority of works related to translation were conducted on literary works. However, nowadays translation services have expanded across multiple industries thanks to international travel and the globalization of businesses. So the profession is becoming increasingly essential.
All over the world, this day is ideal to show appreciation to translators and give them the deserved credit for their work. At Wagner, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate and honor our translators for their special contribution at bringing the world closer and taking down language barriers.
Whether you are in the U.S., Europe, South America, Asia, Africa or Zealandia, we want to wish you a happy Translation Day. Sunday Funday, they say… and especially on an occasion like this, we expect there is a lot of fun and laughs in your day. After all, smiling is the international language.
